If I don't reply within 24 hours of your reply, feel free to send me a pm. I have the game as well and wanted to install it on a machine with no optical drive. I have an account at Blizzard for my WoW and Diablo 3 and for each of their games they have a downloadable version of their installer.
Once registered you can download the installer for each game you have registered. You can download as many times as you like to install on different computers, but can only play one instance at a time, of course. In other words you cannot download on two differnt computers and then have a friend play on one while you play on the other. That won't work. Each copy of the D2 game and the LOD expansion have their own CD keys.
I tried to register the CD keys on their site but it wouldn't take. I contacted Blizzard and asked what I should do to get the download from their site. They had me take pictures of the CD's showing the keys in the picture and attach to my service ticket for them to review. They registered the keys for me and I was then able to download the game. Buddy215's suggestion is worth looking into, too, since the game is very inexpensive these days.
